Using Windows 7 With Oracle Version 10 or 11

If you are using Windows Vista with Oracle version 10 or 11, you may need to change the default permissions given to the Iguana service so that Oracle will work correctly. The Iguana service must have full read and execute access to the Oracle home directory and its subdirectories and files. This will ensure that the Oracle DLL file loads properly when Iguana is started from the Services menu or from the net start Iguana command.

Note: this probably applies to Windows Vista also.

To change the default permissions given to the Iguana service:

  • In Windows Vista, click the Start button.
  • From the menu that appears, select Control Panel.
  • From the Control Panel window, double-click Administrative Tools.
  • From the Administrative Tools window, double-click Services.
  • Double-click the iNTERFACEWARE Iguana service to open the Properties dialog box.
  • Click the Log On tab.
  • In the Log on as field, supply a username that is a member of the Administrative role or that has full read and execute access to the Oracle home directory and its subdirectories and files.
