What is HL7?

History

The HL7 Organization was formed in 1987 by a group of vendors and consultants.

These user groups and vendors share a common goal – to simplify the implementation of interfaces between computer applications.

Meetings are held approximately every four months in locations throughout the United States and internationally.

The HL7 organization has continued to grow over the years.

For a copy of all HL7 ANSI-approved standards, you will need to become a member at the HL7 web site http://www.hl7.org.
